Halloween Release-Idea-ology The Eye box

 Hello friends...

Hope you are all good!
Today I'm going to share with you one of my Halloween inspired (Tim Holtz) Idea-ology makes
This one honestly took me days to make and I'm not going to lie it also gave me some creepy sleepless nights.... but I loved how it worked out, I hope you like it to?!

As soon as I saw the new eyes from idea-ology I knew I wanted to incorporate them into a book cover or a box.... and as one of my favourite bases to use from Idea-ology are the boxes I decided to use one of the vignette boxes and a panel frame for the door .....

To start I covered the box and door panels in the new papers (abandoned) these papers are so cool! They have designs both sides and you get 2 of each...
I then added the eye by glueing it in place with collage medium, you need to let this totally dry.
Then I built up around the eye using air dry clay, again you need to be patient as you have to work in layers.
(If I get a chance at some point I will try an instagram live or story to demo this technique)

When the eye is dry I painted around it using black crackle paste, left it to dry then again repeated
I  added the black crackle to the rest of the box.
Next up was the insides and what to add to them....
So I thought I would continue with the eye theme.
I stuck in a metal box base but then (when dry) drilled the watch into place.  (This is the tricky bit and I broke two drill bits while trying to do this so I do not recommend you try unless you have the correct tools and safety equipment!!)

I then added the finial to sit the watch on and two skulls to guard over it.
The eyes were popped out of the plastic using a pokey tool ( again be careful if you try this!)
The curtain was added along with the words to the inside of the door
Inside the watch I added a layer of the paper then some cogs followed by another eye which I then built up with the air dry clay, the butterfly is from the new halloween sticker book and I inked up some of the mummy cloth to lined the box with.

On top of the box I added a wooden finial and distressed it in black and green distress paint, then added a word coin to it.  The clip at the side was made using one of the spider charms but I replaced the pearl with a word band.
This was a great project to create.... as you can see I just love the dark side!

A huge thank you to Tim, Mario and Paula for inviting me to take part in creating for Halloween..... Please do hop over to Tim's blog to watch the replay of the Facebook live along with more details on how the talented designers took inspiration and the different ways they used the products.

All the Halloween products are shipping now, so grab them while you can....I know I need more of those eyes!!

As always please do leave a comment, I would love to know what you think and I appreciate you passing by!

Hope to be back very soon with more fun  Halloween projects to share!

Bye for now

  12. The Abandoned paper really sets the tone for this, and your genius way of adding the eye takes it from moody to downright creepy! The black crackle adds wonderful texture, as as always, your details are amazing!
