Journal Cover

Hello friends…

Hope you are all good!
Today I’m sharing this funky journal cover.

I used Paperartsy Hot-picks tissue paper ( PT01) such great value, you get 4 really big sheets of it in a pack and it’s so versatile.
I created a background by brayering fresco paints  (chalk, captain peacock, Lake wanaka, haystack, green patina.  I also used magenta by Dina wakley)
I adhered the tissue using Mattints in Glow

I created lots of layers and stitching and added a star and wings by Tim Holtz.
To finish I added an original vintage ephemera sheet to the journal then layered the cover over it.

Hope you like it?!
Feel free to leave a comment, great to know you popped by .
Have a good week

Vintage Art Journal spread

Hello friends…

Today on the Maker’s table I’m sharing this journal spread that I created in a little handmade journal
I  tried to create a vintage page incorporating some muted  pastel colours…
I used Paperarsy fresco paints in Snowflake, pumpkin, candy floss and Caribbean Sea. I also used distress paint and inks in walnut stain.
I also added some stitching, layers of tape, papers and stencils.
I used some small strips of collage papers from a collage book I  recently bought called Callico collage ( One fine day)  The butterfly and photo are from Tim Holtz

The words are from an original play script which I cut up to add to the pages.
I really enjoyed putting this together, I often struggle with using colour,  but these muted tones were fun to experiment with,

Miniature journal

Hello friends

Hope you are good,
Can you believe we are already in March?!
Crazy how quick the weeks go by!

Today I’m sharing this tiny miniature journal, after being inspired by the Paperartsy blog, who are featuring miniature as a topic.

I’ve recently been having a sort out of my craft supplies, I lost a lot of my stash due to a water leak in a storage unit I was using so I’m slowly sorting through it to see what I can salvage. While I was sorting I came across a bag of Stamp board tiles ( remember them!?) they are a clay coated board, perfect for stamping into, I don’t think they make them anymore, but I remember using them in the past to make jewellery.

To start I gave the tiles a layer of the new ‘mattints’ glazes from Paperartsy, to the tiles and left them to dry. I used glow and nutty.
I also used them on Paperartsy hot picks tissue paper (PT01) which was stuck down to the tiles, I added more layers.

I then created folds in card to create a concertina to form the base for my journal.
I also added some mini tabs for inside the journal.
This is the reverse of the journal too!
I added some distress ink in peeled paint and some scorched timber and more layers of the Mattints to finish.

Hope you like it, it was so much fun to create!

Feel free to leave a comment, have a great weekend

Art journal

On the Maker’s table today is this little mini art journal.

I recently watched the lovely Alison use tissue paper in her recent Facebook live for Paperartsy, it was really inspiring, ( thank you so much for for sharing Alison)
After a busy week I finally got round to having a play and created this little art journal using the Seth Apter tissue paper…. I really liked how effective it is & you only need a very little amount of paint. I used @paperartsy fresco paints in Blue bayou, Rusty, Space cadet Snowflake and some infusions (in the navy)
I added lots of stitching and used rusting powder to dye the vintage ribbon.
Please do hop over to @w0rdsandp1ctures for a watch & lots more inspiration
Thanks for looking

Hello friends….

Hope you are all ok, today I’m sharing this grungy panel
which will be added to my art journal..

I love creating layers… to create them
I used a base  of Paperartsy grunge paste, followed by layers of fresco paints in Snowflake, Cherry red, South Pacific and Azure.
I stamped with my own vintage number stamp and Paperartsy mini stamp MN 28, I  added a sprinkle of infusions (In the navy)

I then added some torn tissue (from Seth apter) and sewed into the panel.
I also tried rusting powder for the first time to colour the ribbon, really like the muted rusty tone it gives, soo will definitely use more of it!

I hope you like it, feel free to leave a comment
Best wishes

Vintage Panel

Hello friends

First of all a big thank you for all the encouraging words and messages to my recent mixed media posts, they have been very much appreciated.
Many of you know that I had stepped away from Mixed media, as at the time it felt right to move in a different direction, but I guess life has a way of bringing you back to your happy place…

Today on ‘The Maker’s Table’
I’m sharing this vintage panel, inspired by this lovely original photograph.

I don’t have many supplies at moment as I lost a lot of them due to water damage/damp while in storage during a house move that fell through (long story!)

I created lots of layers, using Paperartsy fresco paints in
Rusty, chalk and Granny Smith, I also used infusions in Walnut.

I used Tim Holtz distress crackle ( love this product!) to make some textured layers.

I stamped with Tim Holtz stamps so numbers onto the photo and added vintage lace from my stash to create more layers
While I was out on a walk I collected some dead fern, I thought they would complement the photo,
To finish I stitched it to some card and mount board.

I love vintage and I love to create lots of layers…
I hope you like it
Thank you for passing by, as always feel
 free to leave a comment
Have a lovely weekend
