Journal panel (No 24)

Hello friends

Hope you are all good and are enjoying the beautiful sunshine...

I Just wanted to pop in and share with you this vintage inspired journal panel...I was inspired to create this after watching Finnabairs Facebook live... it really inspired me.

The original page is from a vintage book which I mounted onto some grey board, 

I then added lots of layers of gesso, crackle paste, design tapes,ribbons and lace...

The photo is a Tim Holtz photo booth photo and the butterfly, design tape words and paperclip are all  from Tim Holtz  Idea-ology 

I used finnabair Art-Alchemy Rustic brown and vintage rose paints

and I added some vintage watches from my stash.... 

To finish I added some rusty wire to create a hanging.... 

I love adding layers and this make has many!

Follow your heart....

Today I'm sharing with you a journal page...

Just lately, Ive noticed that time is running by so fast, everyday life takes over and sometimes I don't know if Im coming or going!

So today I made some time, just for me and put to use some of my lovely Mother's day presents that I received from my family....they've been sat on my desk for a couple of weeks and I finally got to play!

The background is made up of lots of gesso, crackle paste and old text,

Ive used a really mash up of different products for this page.

I used some Impasto paints from Finnabair, (chocolate and Aubergine) over the top of the gesso and crackle medium...

Then I added gold from a Gold leaf Krylon pen randomly to add some contrast.

The photo is from the Tim Holtz photo booth collection.

 I then sewed into it and then framed it with some rusty wire.

I stamped some very faint stars (Tim Holtz) in areas of the background, love the hickory tones...such a subtle colour.

I wanted the staples to look rusty so I added some colour from Finnabair rust paste (love this product!)

The 'Follow you heart' words are from 7dots studio.....I chose these words as I sometimes  need reminding to do just that!

Hope you are all good!

A quickie post from me today, to share my latest make

Not one to embrace colour,

surprise surprise....Ive gone for a very grungy look

(I just couldn't help myself!)

The base is made from wood (from hobbycraft)

which was painted with gesso,

I then I added lots of layers of distress paints to it

(walnut stain, black soot)

I used an then used a Tim Holtz Idea-ology cabinet card,

applied a layer of gesso, texture paste and grit paste

through Tim Holtz Stencils 

(THS070, THS006 and THS005)

When it had dried I used distress crayons and more paints to enhance the stencil marks

The Baroque frame (Idea-ology) was painted with grit paste, when dry,

 I painted it in black soot distress paint.  To highlight areas I used a gold sharpie pen.

I then added the photograph ( from found relatives-occasions set)and stitched the outside of the

cabinet card.

To add some finishing touches I added some lace and stars (stars are from finnabair) I added some arrows and bolts from Idea-ology and mounted it all onto the wooden base

Autumn....

Hope you are all good!

November is here and the temperature has certainly dropped, brrrr!

The leaves are just beautiful at the moment, 

I collected some beautiful leaves from our Acer tree in our garden....

and I wanted to incorporate them in some journal pages  

I used lots of layers of gesso, texture paste and grit paste

through a variety of Tim Holtz stencils

(THS 061,070,068)

I used distress paints ( wild honey, walnut stain) along with distress crayons to add layers of colours to match the leaves.

I also used some rust pastes by finnabair to colour the background, star and arrow.

I added some rusty wire to frame the photo, words and the star 

The text stamp is Tim holtz (Ledger script) 

I also used the Patchwork pieces set,I stamped using coffee archival ink.

Ive left some areas blank as I may journal some thoughts onto it later...

A Seaside adventure

Hope you are all good

Just a quickie post today as

I'm back to work tomorrow,

so I may not get to be creative for a while...

Last week we went off to the coast for the day to blow the cobwebs away!

I managed to collect some cool beach treasure and got to work

 using it with this original vintage photo,

of a family enjoying their beach adventure...

I used craft card, Deco art gesso, Lindys spray`s (Danny Zuko`s denim and frozen Jack frost) Finnabair mica powder (rust) and Tim Holtz vintage photo distress ink and words (Idea-ology) 

Seaweed and shell were courtesy of a very lovely Welsh beach

The photo is one from my collection.....(dated 1918)

and to finish I added some adhesive pearls  and a few stitches!

Hello!

Hello there friends.....

Remember me??

 I know, its been a while....

Life's been busy but all is good.... and yes I've missed you too! 

Anyway after having some much needed time out, I'm slowly

getting back into the shed to create stuff......(as and when time allows me too....)

So today, I dug out my gesso. rolled up my sleeves  and got to work creating a small canvas

in the style of  finnabair.......

 I put to use lots of my broken vintage jewellery....

I used Deco Art Gesso and crackle paint,

 keys too!

Next I used a mixture of leftover inks/paints

Dylusions, Ranger paints and perfect pearls

I have a weakness.... vintage lace, so had to use a little on this canvas.... rude not too!

I really hope you like it!

Ooo nearly forgot!

Over the last few weeks

 I've been watching lots of Periscopes

(find out all about it here)

WARNING! It gets very addictive....

You hear a notification on your device, which then means you

literally drop whatever your doing to watch a live stream....

(always tricky when your shopping in Tesco's!)

its so clever and very interactive,
