Vintage....

Hello friends

I hope you are all good!

Today I wanted to share a vintage inspired make....

I'm always being asked, where I find my vintage stash....

Let me tell you, its not easy, I spend literally hours and hours scouring different places, 

flea markets,  charity shops, car boots, the list goes on......

sometimes I'm really lucky but more often or not I've had a wasted journey.

On several occasions I've almost had a full blown bun fight over junk.....

I have two general rules.....

If you pick it up....don't put it down!

If you like it buy it....

(Don't think I will come back to it later, there's nothing worse than watching someone else walk away with something you had your eye on!)

 I really love the chase of finding stuff, I guess its my drug....

(oh and gin, gotta love a cheeky G&T to celebrate your finds)

So here's what I did with some of my latest finds.......

I stamped in coffee archival, onto kraft card using Tim's Damask stamp to create a background 

I then layered using paper from the Dapper paper stash.... 

(The French bank statement in the background is an original )

I then added a cabinet card and an image from the idea-ology photo booth

and framed her using a frame....

I then added some more Idea-ology and some of my own vintage finds....

(I have to say I just love that mini envelope!)

I love working with vintage, I'm always intrigued as to who, what, where and when

things were used and the stories behind it,

if only they could talk...

A Vintage collage

How are you all doing?/

Its Friday...my favourite day!

(Gin and tonic day!)

As you know, I'm an big collector of vintage and I'm always on the look out for

vintage ephemera....

I recently came across some really cool "Sale  Price" tickets

at my local antiques centre....

(I almost broke my neck to get them to the till!)

I couldn't wait to get them home and to use them in some art work....

here's what I did....

I used lots of Tim Holtz ephemera ( expedition pack) some Tim holtz  idea-ology

and some of my own vintage finds....

I layered some of the ephemera on top of a burlap canvas

I also added lots of stitches

The focus is a photo from the "lost relatives" Idea-ology pack and that vintage "sale price"ticket

I added some old rusty wire around the boy and the dog

I LOVE keys and I cant help but add them to my art....

The bulldog clip is very old, I had to be careful with it as it was very rusty

The white background is from Tim's embossed Motif paper stash, painted with gesso,

then wiped off with a wet wipe.

I've also used bunting inked with pumice stone/vintage photo distress inks

I really enjoyed putting this canvas together.

I think I may need another visit to the antique store this weekend!

Vintage wings....

Hello friends

Hope you are all good!

Wow, I really can`t believe its the end of February!

Not that I want to wish away the months but I'm happy as the nights get lighter and its good to know that spring is just around the corner!

The weather has been too cold to be in my shed so I've moved indoors

until it gets a bit warmer.....

(Not sure my family are that happy about it as I'm super untidy, I've spotted double sided tape stuck to their socks already!) 

When I had my break from crafting, (2 years!) I decided that I was going to completely empty my shed of all my supplies,  I  pretty much got rid of everything, I gifted a lot to friends, gave some to charity and sold one or two things...

I didn't realise how much `stuff` I had collected over the years.....It was quite a shock! (gulp!)

However I did squirrel away some `stuff` as I just couldn't part with it......I'm secretly very pleased that I kept some back....

It also means I can go shopping for lots of new goodies!

Anyway I thought I would share my latest make with you....
(it was good way to use up some of my leftovers)

Ive used lots of Tim Holtz products and some of my own vintage supplies!

I started of with an extra large Ranger manila tag,

to create the background I using Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz

CMS190 Distress damask stamp set

I layered the tag with images from Tim's Walled flower paper stash

I added a some idea-ology along with some of my own vintage ephemara

The quote is from Tim's Small talk stickers

To finish I painted some industrial stickers and added an old pearl necklace to some brown parcel paper.

Movember tag

Hope you are all good

WOW.....can you believe its already November.....

and that means one thing....

MOVEMBER!!!

Movember is a all about the Moustache and 

raising funds for Mens cancer 

a very worthy cause and I just LOVE the moustache!

So with that in mind I was inspired to use this original vintage photograph .....

This rather dapper gentleman is so  rockin a mighty fine moustache!!

I started with a Ranger #10 manilla tag and added some of Wendy Vecchis Embossing paste through a Layering stencil by Tim Holtz (I used Burlap one)

when dry I then used distress inks (vintage photo and walnut stain)

I then added some stitching to the tag and photo and some remnant rub-ons

I distressed the edges of the photo using my Tim holtz scissors

and added a vintage label under the photo.

I then used beeswax all over the tag, which makes it a translucent look and gives a really 

cool vintage look

The numbers, lace, pen nib and key are from my own stash of vintage finds....

I then added my favourite Idea-ology, which was coloured using alcohol inks (copper)

I then backed the tag onto some mount board which was covered in vintage newspaper

which I then added more beeswax to.

To finish I added some rusty wire to create a hanging
