My Sweetheart...

A very, very quick post from me today 

 to share with you this latest make...

To create the background I used

Tim's distress crayons, combined with grit paste through stencils and my new favourite... opaque crackle paste... I just love this stuff!

I layered lots of old text papers, torn denim substrates and lots of stitching using my trusty sewing machine! 

The photo is from Idea-ology photo booth and I added one of my old, vintage rusty keys. 

The "My Sweetheart" is also from the new Idea-ology Clippings...

(i love these too!)

Sorry its a such a quick post....its been a very busy few days here,

Hello 2017

Hello friends!

First of all let me start by wishing you all

a very happy, healthy and creative new year!

Secondly, let me apologise for being missing in action....

I would like to tell you that I spent the christmas period lying on a hot beach, sipping cocktails but the reality is that Ive been really busy working on some top secret projects....shhhh more on them in a couple of weeks!

So today I just wanted to share a quick make that I put together over the weekend....

(I am surprised it even got made as my desk is officially a disaster area! Each time I get motivated to clear it I get distracted and I add to the mountain of mess....butI work better in mess so its not too bad!)

If you are a regular follower of my blog you will know that I am a collector of old photographs and ephemera and I love to use them in my makes...

So I selected this lost soul, she kind of stuck out and fitted perfectly in this Idea-ology frame

I used lots of layers of gesso, texture paste, stencils,distress paints, distress crayons and substrates 

The old rusty keys are from my stash. I added rusty wire and a mini tag from Tim Holtz Tiny tabs and tag die, I also added Remnant rub-ons. 

The outside was framed with stitching and the Ideology frame was given the shabby/ grunge treatment!

Remember.....

Happy Halloween!

I said in my post yesterday that I would share with you a project Ive been working on....

its a really mash up of different products.

(I will list them all at the end of the post)

I wanted to create something a little bit grungy to go with this original vintage photograph

Im still very much experimenting with some of my Tando/Deco-art purchases. 

I used lots of crackle paint for the background on the tag....loving that crackle!

I created lots of layers using modelling paste, gesso and paints,

I used a dylusions stencil to get the background circles.....

The actual base is wood, bought from hobby craft.

I stamped using Amy Tangerine alpha stamps with black archival.

The screws and bolts are from Tando creative and I was inspired by Andy skinners technique, giving them that cool/rusty look.

The stars are small wooden christmas decorations that i stripped the colour off and painted using deco-art media paints.

The word remember is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology range, framed by a book plate from Tando

I really enjoyed creating this, although I realised how impatient I am when it comes to waiting for gesso/paint to dry!

I hope you are all well,

Sorry I've not been around much for a few weeks.....

I was hoping to spend  half term week with the family but all I managed to do was to catch a really horrible viral infection which put me out of action for a while,  :0(   ( it always happens at half term!) it really knocked me about......but glad to say Im feeling so much better! 

Anyway, this evening Ive managed to get some much needed creative time...

Heres what I made....

Those that follow my blog regularly will know that I love to use original vintage photos in my work,

I found this one along with the photo I used in my last post here, in an old album that i bought from a local junk shop, I really like how happy the couple look on their holiday.... 

I started by creating a background using gesso on an old note pad page that I had torn from a photo album, I then added black tim holtz distress paint through Tim's herringbone stencil using some cut and dry foam 

I then stamped using distress archival in ground expresso using the mixed media stamps.

This was followed by using the distress splatter brush and peacock feathers distress paints flicked randomly onto the background.

I always add stitching to my work so I got to work with my sewing machine!

Ive added lots of Idea-ology along with some of my own vintage finds (ruler, curtain ring and ephemera)

As I was a lucky winner in last months 12 tags so I spent my voucher from simonsaysstamp.com (thank you!!) on the Correspondence stamp set from Tim Holtz, its such a great set as it has so many smaller stamps that are really useful, Ive used some on the tags and the photo!

Right, my desk is looking in a very bad way!! I best have a clear up....
