Wow its been a hot few days here in the U.K.

I hope you are enjoying the weather too, wherever you may be!

Today I want to share with you my latest make....

Sometimes it can take me forever to find the right photo for a project, 

but today while I was moving some of my lovely junk around, this photo fell out and I found it on the floor....so I decided to use it and to try and bring the lovely lady back to life...

The gesso has been painted on a journal page, I tore lots of text from an old book and stuck it down....more gesso, paint and crackle paint were added.... 

I added some vintage lace from my collection and added some chit chat words (Tim Holtz) 

The frame (Idea-ology) was painted with gesso then distress paint.

I love to collet things, so while out walking the dog I collected some twigs and moss and added some to the base of the frame.

I always like to add a vintage key, this one fitted perfectly!

To finish I layered the journal page onto some waxed paper, black card and then added some stitching

A splash of colour.....

Have you had a good week? Its been a cold one here brrrr....

There's been lots going on in the craft world, lots of new releases, new inspiration and lots of new products that we all NEED!

I am so looking forward to what the Creativation show brings us this coming week....its such an exciting time!

So just a quick post tonight, 

 to share a quick make using lots of colour.....yes thats me using colour!

(it's good to come out of your comfort zone and experiment....and as  its January I needed a splash of colour to lift these dark winter days!)

The image is from my own vintage collection that I photo-copied and

did an image transfer using gesso

I highlighted the girls using distress paint (mustard seed)

I then added lots of splashes of colour using lots of distress paints. 

Next I stamped using Black  Archival ink and Tim Holtz Mixed Media 2 stamp set 

I created a patchwork of stitching from some off cuts and added some Remnant rub-ons 

To finish I added some words from Big chat ( idea-ology) and backed it onto black card...

Hello 2017

Hello friends!

First of all let me start by wishing you all

a very happy, healthy and creative new year!

Secondly, let me apologise for being missing in action....

I would like to tell you that I spent the christmas period lying on a hot beach, sipping cocktails but the reality is that Ive been really busy working on some top secret projects....shhhh more on them in a couple of weeks!

So today I just wanted to share a quick make that I put together over the weekend....

(I am surprised it even got made as my desk is officially a disaster area! Each time I get motivated to clear it I get distracted and I add to the mountain of mess....butI work better in mess so its not too bad!)

If you are a regular follower of my blog you will know that I am a collector of old photographs and ephemera and I love to use them in my makes...

So I selected this lost soul, she kind of stuck out and fitted perfectly in this Idea-ology frame

I used lots of layers of gesso, texture paste, stencils,distress paints, distress crayons and substrates 

The old rusty keys are from my stash. I added rusty wire and a mini tag from Tim Holtz Tiny tabs and tag die, I also added Remnant rub-ons. 

The outside was framed with stitching and the Ideology frame was given the shabby/ grunge treatment!

Together....

Hello friends

Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful summer....

If you are a regular follower of my blog you will know that Ive not been around much as Ive been

spending some much needed quality time with my friends and family, its been so busy trying to cram everything in but its been so much fun creating some great memories with them.

Although Ive been super busy.....Ive still managed to sneak in some much needed arty time 

(usually, very late at night while everyone is asleep and bonus.... plus extra bonus I get to watch the Olympics in Rio, its multi-tasking at its best!)

So I apologise for it being a very, very quick post,

I will leave you with some photographs of my end result.

I created lots of layers for this make, using gesso, I used the lace as a stencil and applied gesso through it to create a cool shabby plaster look. I also used lots of distress sprays/crayons/paints/archival ink and embellished it with vintage lace, beads, stitching and crochet flowers.....I picked the photograph up from a local car boot sale.

Again I really do apologise for it being a quick post....

A Vintage Smile

Hope you are all well.

I've had some free me time to create today......half term has its perks!

As many of you know I love vintage and I always

try to incorporate some of my vintage finds in my work.

This started out as a plain piece of white card,

I had loads of messy fun building up lots of layers with  papers and stencilling with gesso

I never really know how it will end up.....or how it will come together.

Even when I think its finished,  I look back at the photographs that I've taken to find my OCD

kicks in and think...its missing something and have to add to it!

(and yeah......my OCD kicked in and had to add to this and re-take the shots)

I used lots of vintage papers, deco art gesso and crackle paint.

To colour I used dylusion brown ink, vintage photo distress ink, Lindy's spray (oatmeal),

Paperartsys Fresco paint (taupe)

I also used  some Tim Holtz Idea-ology and some cool images from Tim's ephemera packs  

The photo is an original, I found this one at a local auction

I have suitcases full of other peoples old photos, I always end up buying them as I think its so sad that someone's precious memories could possibly end up in a landfill.....plus I love the finish to them, they just don't develop them like they used to!

Vintage seaside

Hope you are all good!
What a beautiful week its been......
I'm really loving the sunshine

Its been a manic week or so, been working, finishing deadlines, teaching and doing all those mum things....sports day, parents evening, school performances etc ......
(I've only got just over a week left....then I'm FREE!whoohoo!)

I finally managed to steal a couple of much needed creative hours this afternoon......
it was Pure HEAVEN!

If you have been following me on facebook you will know that I'm a collector of anything vintage
 I recently bought a box full of old  ephemera...and yes I have zero willpower!
Inside it was full of vintage postcards and photos
It can be quite sad seeing someone's life of memories stuffed into a box and I often buy them just because I cant bare to think of them going into a landfill....
but I also buy them because its really fascinating.....who, where, when etc
I decided to try and use some of them in my makes....

As we are in July .......the summer holidays are nearly here
 I was inspired by this photo of a little girl on the beach 

I used a canvas board  as a base and covered it with gesso and more canvas

I used lots of stitching  and vintage lace.....

I added lots of Idea-ology, some Remnant Rub-ons and typed words using my vintage typewriter

I tried to used lots of layers, corrugated card, tags and thread...

I used antique linen and Walnut stain distress inks by Tim Holtz

I stamp the 1947 using  Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz Worn text stamp set in Coffee Archival ink

WOW its been a beautiful week here.....

the sunshine is so good for lifting the soul!

Hope the sunshine has been shining with you!

These last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind.....

After a trip of a lifetime to NYC with my family,
 life is slowly beginning to return to normal ....whatever normal is lol
Ive been sooo busy catching up 

and Yes I have to admit I've been suffering from the holiday blues......BIG TIME

So to take my mind off feeling blue I decided to create

some journal pages in my Dylusions journal in a shabby/ vintage style.....

I used lots of layering with old text pages from vintage books,  gesso and distress stain (Walnut stain)

I added lots of Tim Holtz Idea-logy mixed with some of my own vintage finds

The remnant rub-ons are perfect to add to idea-ology!

The images are from Tim Holtz Paper stack Lost and found

Here's another page with the quote "Not all who wander are lost"

I used gesso, distress stains, dylusions (melted chocolate) , tissue tape and cheesecloth

I added rusty wire and an old rusty key

The tag was distressed in Walnut stain ink and I added more of the 

remnant rub-ons randomly to the tag.

I had to stop  myself adding more to the pages 

You know when you read a book and you just cant put it down??

Well I have the same problem with journalling 

I tend to phaff about a lot.....tempted to add more..... more...and more!

In the end I decided to hide my journal under the chaos of my desk but

I'm sure It will break me and I will add just a little more lol
